Spiritual walk on New Year’s Day

The Sri Sumukhi Rajasekharan Memorial Foundation of Chennai will be conducting its New Year ritual for the 10th year in 2012. The foundation, run by the Mylapore Trio, S Amarnath, S Surendranath and S Aparna, takes out a spiritual walk around the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple on January 1 – and the tradition continues this year also - on Sunday, January 1, 2012.

According to a note from the foundation, it invites children, youth, elders and music institutions to join the walk that would start at 6 a.m. and end at 8 a.m.

The walk starts Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple (near theradi) and would go around the four mada streets of the temple, singing bhajans and namavalis.

“Feel the divine experience of bhakti and Margazhi chillness during this spiritual walk. Let us perpetuate the tradition and culture of the musical legends,” says the Trio.

The only condition they impose is that the participants should be dressed in traditional south Indian attire.

Here is a chance to start your New Year on an auspicious beginning.
