Grand Janmashtami (Krishna Jayanthi) Festival 2018, at ISKCON Chennai

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is celebrating “Sri Krishna Janmashtami” on 2nd and 3rd September 2018 at its centre off the ECR.


Sri Krishna Yajna will be conducted on 1st September, Saturday from 3pm to 5pm.


The Adivas Ceremony followed by Arati and Prasadam, will be on Saturday, 1st September from 6pm onwards.


On 2nd & 3rd September, 2018 – Sri Krishna Janmashtami Day:


Lord Krishna’s appearance day means, We remember Mathura(UP) where he appeared, Vrindhavana his childhood pastimes and teachings of Bhagwad Gita. His teachings are for the benefit of mankind, to deliver from anxieties and miseries of material existence. So the Janmastami is a festival of every home and let us celebrate congregationally.


Sri Sri Radha Krishna, the presiding deities of ISKCON Chennai, will be bedecked in a special decoration for the occasion. Darshan will be open throughout the day. Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth vehicle parking, quick movement in darshan lines and archanaseva. Prasadam will be served to all visitors. To visit the temple buses are plying from Koyambedu to ISKCON temple akkarai till 12am, made arrangements for public amenities, wheel chairs for disabled persons and old people. For children we have a small playing area. We are expecting 50,000 people on both days. We are also having a police booth, ambulance and fire service will be stationed. Cultural programs by different schools will be performed.


The main highlight of the day on 3rd September, Monday will be the elaborate Conch-abhisheka to the utsava deities Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandravali beginning from 10.30pm and culminating with Arati, Kirtan and Anukalpa Prasadam at 12 midnight, coinciding with the time of Krishna's birth.


Sri Putta Sudhakar Yadav Garu, Chairman, TTD Trust Board & Thiru. Arjun Sampath Avl, State President, Founder, Hindu Makkal Katchi will be the guests of honour on the Krishna Janmashtami inauguration function on 3rd (Monday) September, 2018.
