MOP radio mesmerises school kids

To encourage the talent of schoolchildren from the remote areas and economically-backward sections, nearly 50 students from the government higher secondary school in Kathivakkam visited M O P community radio station (MOPCRS) 107.8 of M O P Vaishnav College for Women, Nungambakkam, Chennai.

Nearly 10 students, passionate about drawing and painting, expressed their wish to MOPCRS to visit a drawing studio and interact with an artist. The children were guided by visual communication department faculty Ranjith, a renowned artist.

Excited by this opportunity, the children quickly fell in. They asked Ranjith‘s feedback for their drawings and sketches and he praised them for their efforts. Amazed by their enthusiasm, he organised a drawing competition.

He appreciated the work of all the children and gave a special memento - sponsored by the students of Viscom department - to each one of them. Certificates were distributed to the students by college principal, Dr K. Nirmala Prasad.

This show was produced by G Raji Sankari and U K Sanghavi of 1st B.Sc. Viscom for MOPCRS.

Apart from the drawing competition, the students were given a special opportunity to perform in MOP radio and they excelled themselves. The students performed a variety show that included of villu pattu, debate, speech and singing. They eagerly learnt the rudiments of radio shows. They were guided by MOP students R J Bala Meenakshi and Sathya.

They were distributed certificates for these progammes also by the college principal.
