Automotive tech skills training at REC

Rajalakshmi Engineering College and Bosch Limited entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 15, 2012 to set up a joint certification training centre at Rajalakshmi Engineering College campus, Thandalam.

The training centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art Bosch equipment to impart various technical training programmes in the automotive sector.

Located strategically in the automobile manufacturing hub of Chennai, the centre would cater not only to the training needs of students of various technical institutions but also the various skilling requirements of employees working in the industrial hub.

D Shanmugavel, business manager, Bosch, emphasised the need for closer interaction between industry and academia to bridge the existing technology gap. He also expressed his confidence that the joint certification centre would play a very vital role in addressing the skill shortage in the automotive sector.

Dr Thangam Meganathan, chairperson, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, welcomed Bosch‘s initiative to bring latest technology in automotives to the doorstep of technical institutions in the country. She expressed the hope that the centre would help young students be better prepared to meet industry requirements.

Dr S Samapth, dean, Automobile Engineering, welcomed the gathering and I Philip Praveen, director-training and placement, proposed the vote of thanks.
