Ingredients
Coconut – 1 Jaggery - 250 gm Cardamom - 3 pieces Rice - 2 spoons
Method
Grate the coconut and heat a little water. Grind the grated coconut in a mixer into a fine paste, adding rice and water. Squeeze the milk from it and get coconut milk. Grind the coconut residue again and filter it once again. Place the coconut milk in a copper- bottomed vessel and heat it mildly. Add jaggery to it and allow it to mix well. Garnish .it with powdered cardamom.
Tasty ‘thengai pal’ (coconut milk) is ready to be served.
It is a custom in many households to serve ‘thengai pal’ in a silver tumbler to a newly-wed bridegroom on the first day of the month of Aadi.
This year Aadi 1 falls on Sunday (July 17).
