Ingredients
Rice - 250 gm Grated coconut - 3 big cups Jaggery - 1 big cup Powdered Cardamom – 3 Salt - A small pinch Oil - 2 spoons
Method
Wash and soak the rice in water. Grind it in mixer to from a smooth paste. In a pan, pour oil and a little water and add the rice paste to it. Stir it till it becomes thick. Transfer it and cover it with a piece of cloth and allow it to cool. Rice dough is ready.
Pooranam
In a pan, pour a little water and add jaggery and stir it for five minutes till it becomes thick. Add grated coconut to it and stir it for some more time till it blends well with the jaggery. Add powdered cardamom to it. Allow it to cool.
Kozhukattai
Make small balls with rice dough with a little oil and make them into tiny cups. Make tiny balls of pooranam and enclose it in the tiny cups and close them. Steam it for 10 minutes.
Kozhukattai is ready for offering to lord Ganesha.
Sundal
Ingredients
Brown channa dhal - 250 gm Red chillies – 3 Green chillies – 3 Asafoetida powder - 1 spoon Oil - 4 spoons Mustard - 1 spoon Grated coconut - 2 cups Curry leaves - A bunch Salt to taste
Method
Wash and soak the channa dhal in water the pervious night. Cook it for half-an-hour.
In a pan, splutter mustard and add the red and green chillies. Put cooked channa dhal and add salt, asafoetida powder and stir for some time. Add grated coconut and curry leaves and stir it till it all mixes well.
Sundal is ready for Vinayaka.
