Chennai restaurateur M Mahadevan opened the second outlet of ‘Copper Chimney’ on the campus of Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu recently. In keeping with the practice followed over the years, Copper Chimney launched the restaurant by hosting a charity dinner, where the rich and powerful were present.
Mahadevan stated that the inauguration of the restaurant on the Taramani campus will enable students of Spastics Society be trained in various job roles and help them emerge as employable candidates.
The proceeds of the first evening’s collections was approximately Rs 2 lakh, including the amount gained by auctioning the two pieces of art created on the spot by well-known art director Thotta Tharani. The proceeds were donated to Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu.
IAS officer Kannagi Packianathan participated in the event and praised Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu and Copper Chimney for their efforts to bring in the spastic children into the mainstream.
