Agada Hospitals, an upcoming world-class medical centre promoted by Dr Mohan Thanikachalam recently announced that it has tied up with Joslin Diabetes Center, Boston, USA, to provide Chennaiites world-class diabetes care and treatment.
Agada Health Care (AHC) is located on Dr Nair Road, T Nagar, and will be open to the public from November 14, 2011, which coincides with World Diabetes Day.
Joslin Diabetes Center is the world’s first and most respected diabetes care facility. Since its founding in 1898, Joslin Diabetes Center has helped revolutionise diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diabetes.
According to Dr Mohan Thanikachalam, Agada has collaborated with Joslin Diabetes Center to bring to India more than 100 years of experience in treatment and care of diabetes. With India being known as the diabetes capital of the world, it is essential that the general public themselves understand the disease and its impact on the human body and take corrective measures in time. Agada plans to create awareness and educate everyone concerned on a systematic and scientific basis about diabetes care.
Dr Mohan added that the infrastructure has been made more patient-centric and arrangements have been made to minimise time spent at the centre. Agada is also developing a concept called Agada Connect through which the team hopes to build a close rapport with patients, to support their progress and motivate them to keep working towards their goals. They can access their health records at any time; any place, and can get prescriptions and be able to contact health care professionals 24 x 7.
Dr N A Jayavelan, medical director, AHC, said Agada will offer special programmes like diabetes eye and foot care to prevent diabetes-related complications.
