Younger people divorce sooner

A study by jeevansathi.com reveals an upward trend in the number of divorcees under the age group of 25. The numbers of profiles have doubled in the last three years, compared to 4 per cent in 2008.

When we look at the profiles of male divorcees, the number under 25 years of age has gone up from 2 per cent in 2008 to 8 per cent in 2011. However, there is a dip in the number of divorcees over the age of 50. The number has dipped from 6 per cent in 2007 to 3 per cent in 2011. When we look at female profiles, then the number of divorcees has gone up from 3 per cent in 2008 to 5 per cent in 2011.

Commenting on the findings, jeevansathi.com business head Rohit Manghnani said, “Incompatibility and lack of adjustment is the key reason for increase in the number of divorce profiles amongst youngsters. Online matrimony sites such as jeevansathi.com provide divorced individuals an opportunity to find partners of choice with ease in an environment which caters to the sensitivity of the situation. Our research statistics show that divorced individuals tend to find online marriage partners easily to fit their needs and requirements and a high percentage of them have been successful in finding their marriage partners within the first three months of registering with us.”

Fiftythree per cent of divorcee men approach single women for re-marriage, while divorcee women do not have any significant preference for re-marriage. This trend is not only significant among self-posted profiles of divorcee men but also among profiles posted by parents, where 62 per cent parents prefer their son to re-marry single women.
