Tamil Nadu Chief Minsiter J Jayalalithaa today ordered setting up of a Public Relations centre at a cost of Rs six crore to improve public relations and creation of awards to encourage e-governance.The proposed centre would help to address the grievances of the public, besides providing information about various government schemes, status reports of petitions given by the people and extend services under one roof, accoring to reports. The centre would be given one common number, through which, people could get in touch with the centre from any part of the country and get information they need, according to reports.Ms Jayalalithaa also ordered creation of 'Chief Minister's Award for Excellence in e-governance', an annual award to encourage upcoming youth to come out with innovations and create awareness on e-governance. The Chief Minister also ordered creation of awards under three categories of 'Development of Application using Mobile Technology', 'Innovative Application for Differently Abled persons' and 'Development of Application using Neural Network. . Ms Jayalalithaa ordered constitution of an expert committee to select the award winners in the three categories. In each category, the winners would be given a prize money of Rs two lakh and a trophy worth Rs 15,000.
