Chennai, September 8: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced in the Assembly today that a new satellite township would be built in suburban Thirumazhisai.
Making a statement under Rule 110 in the Assembly, she announced new housing development schemes that would benefit all sections of society in view of the rapid expansion of Chennai city and the skyrocketting real estate prices.
As part of the schemes, the Tamil Nadu Housing Board would build the satellite township on a 311.05 acres at Thirumazhisai on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway integrating Chembarambakkam, Kuthambakkam, Parvatharajapuram, Narasingapuram and Vellavedu villages.
She said 12.87 acres would be acquired from the owners after due consultations for developing link roads to Thirumazhisai Satellite Township, which would have all basic amenities. Jayalalithaa said 12,000 apartments would be built in the township and would be sold to economically weaker sections and middle-income group people at affordable rates.
